So, before you start searching for a website developer or a website designer, its important you understand principles such as your marketing message and human psychology.
When you understand human psychology, it becomes second nature to build highly effective websites to sell your products and/or services to the right customers.

What is it, that you are in Business To Do?
Believe it or not, this is often the biggest hurdle to success in any business venture.
If you ask an individual business owner what their business is all about, either they spend a considerable amount of time telling you everything that you don’t need to know or they stumble with words that only make sense to them.
That is an indication of idea sprawl. Often times, we are so passionate about what we want to do we forget the basic premise of our goal.
Failing to explain your business plan to people properly is detrimental because these are people that would have otherwise converted to customers only if they knew what you are in business to do.
Word to the wise; if your website developer or designer has any trouble making sense of what you are trying to accomplish, take a step back and re-evaluate your marketing message.
Your marketing message should be stated briefly with these key questions answered.

- How is your business going to solve your customer’s problems?

- How are you going to make money (does not have to be in your marketing mission statement but this area must be understood.

Website Simplicity – If I visit your website, and I can’t say within a few seconds what your business is about, then you are in trouble; and So is your website developer and or designer.
That’s is it folks. After vetting your marketing message, your website must follow suit to that goal.
When someone like me, visits your website; within a few seconds I need to know and summarize exactly what your website is all about and how it can help me.
Ask your website developer or designer to re-evaluate your website design if it passes this test.
There is no telling sometime what might bring me to your website. So when I do land on your website, I need to know what problem you are solving, how you are solving it, and what you require from me.
Do you just need me to read your articles, provide my email, or buy your product or service?
I should know within those few seconds if I am on a news site, a blog, an eCommerce platform or some sort of Forum.
Maybe perhaps its a new social media outlet, if so; what specific niche are your targeting. This is important because I need to know if what your are offering is for me or if I am welcome to your website in the first place.
Website Marketing Tip 3
From Your Header To Your Call To action – You must lead your visitors to the intended business objective. Remind your website developer or designer that simplicity and intentional direction leads to sales.
Just like how your marketing message has been vetted to prevent misunderstandings or over sharing of unnecessary information, your header portion must also follow those same principles.
If you have a header filled with different options for your visitors to click on, then you are basically competing for your visitor’s attention. This will deplete their ability to do what it is you really want them to do.
For example:
if your header has the following menu items: “About Us, contact us, categories, buy this, sign-up here, etc…do you understand how all those options can be too much decision making for your visitors?
As I stated earlier, Marketing + Psychology = great web design.
I don’t have a masters in psychology, but I do know, your customers are not going to like to spend a long time deciding which options on your website they should click on first.
If they do decide on one, its not going to be the one you want to lead them to. If you want to lead a customer to your store, don’t make the decision even harder for the customer.
Bring the unnecessary items to the bottom of your web page. Not only, will this help in speeding up your website load time but it will convert to sales very easily.
So do limit, the amount of information in the header and implement a call to action that directs your visitors to the intended goal.
